New Year, New Plans

Cherry Beach, Harbert, Michigan. December 30th, 2011.
The only thing you can count on is that things change. This is the last blog post for my Blogger site, and after more than 850 posts in the past four years, I'm kinda sad. But, I'm not done blogging, or compulsively making photographs (especially of my favorite piece of Lake Michigan at Cherry Beach).
If you visit my blog on a regular or even irregular basis, please click on over to my new Tumbr photography blog, called Unfocused. If you love art blogs, check out the companion blog, Focused, my aggregating digital notebook on art, artists, theory, criticism, photography and creativity. I love doing research on ideas and following artists I find in galleries and museums and then tuck away the links, images, interviews and videos on Focused so I know exactly where to find stuff whenever I want. Basically, Focused is my blog for other artists' work and Unfocused is for my own extremely diverse (unfocused) and varied work.
If you're interested in following either blog, the easiest way is to friend me on Facebook. I am migrating the blog in part because Facebook and Blogger are not playing nice, making it much too time consuming to post my blog to Facebook. Tumblr makes it easy--in fact, it's automatic.
So, ciao for now but, hopefully, not for good.

Happy New Year's Eve

A holiday display that manages to cover Christmas and New Year's Eve all at once.

Chicago Project

Fulton Market.
I love the behind-the-scenes feel to Fulton, where much of the real food comes from for Chicago restaurants, large and small. In recent years, it's become a hot spot for hip restaurants and an ever growing loft conversion real estate market. But the industrial feel is still there, just in sight of the Loop.

Cloudy Bright

Such a nice winter sky and nice bare trees.

Proof that deer love the beach, too.

December at the Beach

Same day, same camera, same place. Hard to believe.

Chicago Project

A view of the Loop from Garfield Park. I loved how the guys in the auto impound lot were the same size as the Willis (aka Sears) Tower.  I also love the conflagration of power lines, poles and posts against the tower in the background.
